İznik Çandarlı Halil Pasha Tomb

It is the first Çandarlı family shrine on the Lefke Kapı road. According to the sign at the entrance of the tomb; “Çandarlı İbrahim Pasha's eldest son and famous vizier of the years of II.Murad and Fatih Sultan Mehmet, Çandarlı Halil Pasha was executed after the conquest of Istanbul and was buried in his mausoleum next to his sons who died before him ”. The tomb is open.

Çandarlı Halil Pasha was the Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire for 14 years between 1439 and 1453 and was the first Grand Vizier to be executed in the Ottoman Empire.

Due to his cautious attitude during the siege of Istanbul and his alleged secret cooperation with Eastern Rome, he was arrested and jailed after the conquest of Istanbul, and then he was executed.
