Silk carpets of Bursa are in Germany

Bursa’s silk carpets crossed the borders with the works of BUSMEK, attracted great attention at the fair in Germany.

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Art and Vocational Training Courses (BUSMEK) took its place in DOMOTEX, the world’s largest carpet and flooring fair, which is the meeting point of professionals. Handcrafted carpets of Turkish culture were also hosted by the Istanbul Carpet Exporters Association (İHİB), which undertook the “National Participation” organization of the DOMOTEX Fair held in Honnover, Germany between 12-18 January.

Within the scope of the Metropolitan Municipality’s “Bursa Silk Comes to Life Again” project, the handcrafted carpets produced by BUSMEK trainees at the Umurbey Silk Production and Design Center and in the carpet houses established in Orhaneli, Büyükorhan, Keles, Harmancık and İnegöl districts were showcased in Germany. The BUSMEK booth attracted attention at the fair, where there was a very crowded participation. BUSMEK master instructors Yasemin Özbey and Ali Ulvi Özbey and BUSMEK Deputy General Coordinator Murat Aydın and Bursa Silk Comes to Life Again Project Coordinator Mehmet Ünal were present at the fair.

For the cultural promotion of Bursa silk, carpet weaving and silk taking off silk cocoons, ranging from cocoon to the final product, were also watched with interest by the visitors of the fair. İHİB President Uğur Uysal, Hannover Consul General Banu Malaman, Dusseldorf Consulate General Commercial Attaché Mustafa Hilmi Aşkın and Hannover Region President Hauke Jagau also visited BUSMEK booth.
