Silk carpets woven in BUSMEK workshops attracted attention at the Domotex Hannover 2019 International Carpet and Floor Covering Fair, the world’s largest carpet fair held in Hannover, Germany.
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Art and Vocational Training Courses (BUSMEK) took place for the second time this year at the fair, which the international carpet industry attaches a great significance and waits with excitement. All stages of silk, ranging from cocoon to the final product, from cocoon to thread pulling, spinning, and carpet weaving, were shown practically to the visitors through workshops. Approximately 10 thousand people visited the BUSMEK Stand at the fair, which was attended by high-level ministry bureaucrats of the countries, commercial attaches, consuls and Turkish parliamentarians. Participants were informed about the activities and studies carried out within the scope of the “Bursa Silk Comes to Life Again” project of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.
BUSMEK Umurbey Silk Production and Design Center has shown 35 silk carpet samples woven in 16 workshops in Bursa mountain region at Domotex, the world’s largest carpet and flooring fair, which it attended for the second time, to the most important pioneering organizations of the sector. While bilateral negotiations were held with all companies engaged in carpet trade and production from Japan to Canada, Turkey and Bursa were promoted.
